Favorite fruit and/or vegetable: Pears
Bio: Tuesday through Friday you can find me behind the wheel of a Boston Organics van or picking and packing boxes in the warehouse. I hold a BA in Philosophy from Morehead State University and a long term goal of mine is to start a commune with my friends and do my best to get off the grid. Did you know that spray foam insulation can be used to coat arrowheads for use at live action role playing battles? I, in fact, did know that.

Adam Shave · Operations Supervisor

Hometown: Brightwaters, NY
Favorite fruit and/or vegetable: Avocado
Bio: Born ON glorious Long Island, I had a pretty ordinary, yet fantastic childhood in suburbia. I worked for a small successful wholesale greenhouse for most of my teen years and enjoyed playing a lot of different sports (tennis, golf, bowling, basketball, etc). I graduated from Marist College in 2008 with a degree in Psychology and moved to Boston promptly thereafter. After toiling in an assortment of temp assignments for my first year in the Bean, I realized that big business was definitely not for "this guy," and I made the jump back to the small business roots of my young adult years. I currently reside in Brighton, MA, with my girlfriend Meg and our awesome puppy Posey (named after the former Celtic James Posey, not Parker Posey), and I absolutely love this city. On weekend nights, you can often find me enjoying a nice pint with friends.

I am, however, an avid Miami Dolphins fan and a fan of Florida State Seminoles football which won't get me any praises from the locals. Jeff Barry · Founder

Hometown: Providence, RI
Favorite fruit and/or vegetable: Mangoes
Bio: I graduated from Skidmore College in 1990 with a degree in Anthropology. From 1990-1992, I served as a Peace Corps volunteer in the Comoros Islands off the coast of East Africa from 1990-1992. While a volunteer, I taught high school English; I also helped get funds to build a central marketplace in my village for the local growers, artisans, and fishermen. After Peace Corps, I went to the Fletcher School at Tufts and got a Masters degree with a focus on Environmental Economics and International Business in 1995. I then moved to San Francisco where I did all kinds of jobs, but mainly had a lot of fun (mountain biking, yoga, marathons, eating good food, making good friends). While in SF I subscribed to a similar service called Planet Organics. In 2002, my wife and I decided to head back east to be closer to our families. It was at that point that I decided to start Boston Organics, with the goal of bringing fresh local and organic produce to the people of the Boston area. With help from my late grandfather, I purchased a van, posted a few fliers around town and started the business. Most of my free time outside of work is joyfully spent with my wife and three boys cooking, eating, and playing outside.
