The Basics

Cilantro is the name for the leaves of the coriander plant. It is an herb common in many south Asian and Mexican dishes (like salsa and guacamole!). (Read more on Wikipedia.)

Storage Tips

If you need to store fresh herbs, trim the stems then place them into a jar with about an inch of water in the bottom. If you need to refrigerate the herbs, place a plastic bag over the herbs/jar and then refrigerate.

Nutrition

Cilantro is packed with essential vitamins and minerals, including vitamin A, vitamin C, vitamin K, thiamin, zinc, folate, calcium, iron, manganese, copper, and potassium. It has also been studied for its effects on lowering cholesterol and controlling blood sugar. (Read more on World's Healthiest Foods.)
