The Littleton Grist Mill
The Littleton Grist Mill (LGM), based in Littleton, New Hampshire, produces stone-ground flours in the same way today as when it opened in 1798. All of their flours are made by taking organically grown grain and grinding it between two mill stones. This process crushes the grain without generating excess heat, thus preserving the quality and nutritional value of the flour. Unlike commercial white flour products, LGM flours and mixes still contain the bran, wheat germ, vitamin E and all whole grain nutrients. The mill is open to the public free of charge as a working museum. Littletongristmill.com

Real Pickles
Real Pickles is based in Montague, Massachusetts, and uses certified organic vegetables grown in Massachusetts and Vermont. It is one of a small handful of businesses in the United States producing raw, lactic acid fermented (or naturally fermented) pickles. This traditional pickling process went out of favor with the advent of industrial food production. Modern pickling methods, including use of vinegar (usually in place of fermentation) and pasteurization, produce a uniform, shelf stable product suitable to the needs of the large food corporations. Unfortunately, modern pickles do not offer the authentic flavor or health-promoting qualities of traditional pickles. Realpickles.com

Simple Food
Simple Food founder Eileen Moriarty of Newburyport, Massachusetts is not new to the soynut butter business. She co-founded Health Trip Foods, Inc., a soynut butter company started in 1996 in Concord, Massachusetts. Although Eileen developed the product during the late 90's when soy was gaining popularity, her most dedicated customers were people with peanut allergies. She learned about this underserved group when customers would call to thank her for creating "the fifth food my child can eat." By focusing on "peanut-free," the company became a success and the soynut butter was sold at health food stores nationwide. Simplefood.com
