I am all about playing music/writing songs, drawing pictures, skateboarding, hiking, pumping iron, and I love rocking out with my bros! Christian Barraza · Warehouse

Hometown: San Jose, CA
Favorite fruit and/or vegetable: Apples
Bio: I live in Boston with my dogs and I'm a huge fan of photography, straight-edge, riding bikes, America, and making jokes. In my spare time I can be found fixing things that need fixin' or hanging out at the end of Newbury Street. If I could choose any one song to be defined by, I would choose "Black Hole Sun" by Soundgarden.

Jeff Barry · Founder

Hometown: Providence, RI
Favorite fruit and/or vegetable: Mangoes
Bio: I graduated from Skidmore College in 1990 with a degree in Anthropology. From 1990-1992, I served as a Peace Corps volunteer in the Comoros Islands off the coast of East Africa from 1990-1992. While a volunteer, I taught high school English; I also helped get funds to build a central marketplace in my village for the local growers, artisans, and fishermen.

After Peace Corps, I went to the Fletcher School at Tufts and got a Masters degree with a focus on Environmental Economics and International Business in 1995. I then moved to San Francisco where I did all kinds of jobs, but mainly had a lot of fun (mountain biking, yoga, marathons, eating good food, making good friends). While in SF I subscribed to a similar service called Planet Organics. In 2002, my wife and I decided to head back east to be closer to our families. It was at that point that I decided to start Boston Organics, with the goal of bringing fresh organic produce to the people of the Boston area. With help from my grandfather, I purchased a van, posted a few fliers around town and started the business.

Most of my free time outside of work is joyfully spent with my wife and three boys cooking, eating, and building elaborate Thomas the Train train sets.

Sam Bett · Warehouse

Hometown: Weymouth, MA
Favorite fruit and/or vegetable: Rhubarb
Bio: I grew up in Weymouth, MA, near the marshes of Great Esker Park, where I learned about the natural world and became an expert in horseshoe crab anatomy. In fourth grade I wanted to be a botanist, and spent a lot of time listening to The Beatles. In 2009 I graduated from the University of Massachusetts - Amherst with a degree in English and Japanese, having spent over a year in Japan studying abroad. After backpacking that summer in Italy and Croatia, I took a seasonal position at a Japanese organic farm in Hadley, MA, where I gained firsthand experience with organic farming. My hobbies include making labor intensive homemade foodstuffs like bread, beer, maple syrup, and hard cider, publishing a literary zine called Between Lavas and a slow food zine called Easy Jaws, and going on adventures to quirky and unusual destinations with my fun loving friends.

Matt Burt · Produce Buyer

Favorite fruit and/or vegetable: Collard Greens
Bio: I grew up in Wrentham, MA, in the days before the outlet mall and moved to Boston to study audio production at the New England Institute of Art. After graduating, I moved to Philadelphia with my band to take advantage of the cheap rent and vegan cheesesteaks. Upon returning to Boston in 2005, I learned about Boston Organics, and heard that they were hiring! After a year behind the reigns of a Boston Organics van, I moved into the office to manage the delivery logistics, and now handle produce buying and inventory. Galen Lipin · Marketing/Specialty Items/Customer Service

Hometown: Derry, NH
Favorite fruit and/or vegetable: Patty Pan Squash
Bio: I braved the dense rainforests and sprawling deserts of New Hampshire and made my way south on a makeshift raft via the raging rapids of the Merrimack River. Running aground in Lowell, MA, I hoped to break into the field of mill-style building construction, though quickly discovered the local market was thoroughly saturated. Four years later I found myself with a degree in Music Business from the University of Massachusetts. After a two-year stint conceptualizing and handling national, tour, and event publicity for a variety of clients in the music world, I joined up with the crew at Boston Organics. An avid enjoyer of coffee and tinkering with code, instruments, and bicycles; I live in Gardner with my wife Libby and our two adorable cats.

Jeremy Pearson · Delivery Driver

Hometown: Oakland, CA - Everything you heard is true.
Favorite fruit and/or vegetable: Avocado
Bio: Never to be referred to as "Robert" (unless under severe weather conditions at sea), Jeremy has been working and farming the lands of the Boston Organics warehouse for some hundreds of years (6 months). It affords him a healthy and necessary exposure to delicious organic produce and the unique opportunity to study the various insects that call the leafy greens home (entymology being Jeremy's retirement plan). One could say Jeremy feels quite at home at Boston Organics; but then again, who wouldn't? In Jeremy's spare time he might be found reading, writing, makin' beats, playing with cute puppies and kitties, riding bicycles through minefields, trying to remember Wing Chun training, avoiding cell phones, stir-frying any object and making it edible and tasty, short walks on long piers, flying kites, historical adventure vacations, longing for canoes.

When I'm not slinging fruits and vegetables you might find me at a computer or out hiking, fishing, camping, and/or playing frisbee. I hold a BA in Philosophy from Morehead State University and a long term goal of mine is to start a commune with my friends and do my best to get off the grid. Did you know that spray foam insulation can be used to coat arrowheads for use at live action role playing battles? I, in fact, did know that.

Adam Shave · Delivery Driver

Hometown: Brightwaters, NY
Favorite fruit and/or vegetable: Avocado
Bio: Born ON glorious Long Island, I had a pretty ordinary, yet fantastic childhood in suburbia. I worked for a small successful wholesale greenhouse for most of my teen years and enjoyed playing a lot of different sports (tennis, golf, bowling, basketball, etc). I graduated from Marist College in 2008 with a degree in Psychology and moved to Boston promptly thereafter. After toiling in an assortment of temp assignments for my first year in the Bean, I realized that big business was definitely not for "this guy," and I made the jump back to the small business roots of my young adult years. I currently reside in Brighton, MA, with my girlfriend Meg and our awesome puppy Posey (named after the former Celtic James Posey, not Parker Posey), and I absolutely love this city. On weekend nights, you can often find me working the door at the Greenbriar Pub or enjoying a nice pint with friends.

I've spent the past six years working for Boston Organics, making sure the produce gets where it needs to go. After retiring my driving gloves, I moved into the office, where I supervise delivery logistics. Outside of work, you can find me sipping a homebrew beer, playing music in any number of local groups, or letterpress printing on a vintage Kelsey press.
